World in Need's focus on the community includes:

Education: Technology and training support to institutions such as Children's Villages of India, India Sponsor Foundation and the Special Olympics. Technology Training and Job centres focus on enhancing learning and creative abilities among Children besides training them on job skills.

Volunteer matching grant program: Launched in India in 2005, 25 are currently gettign support under this program. .

Environment: World in Need programs have planted and taken care of more than 4000 trees in and around Bangalore in the last few years. A Waste Management Program in is currently underway at Annasandrapalya, Bangalore.

Community outreach: Holiday giving campaigns, annual blood drives, book drives, and fund raiser programs

Tsunami village development project: This project focuses on infrastructure development during the first year which includes a class 1 to 10 school building with a vocational training center, computer center, play school, and a community center. The second year will focus on education, environment and community programs, and activities that will provide necessary skills to the children, youth, and the community in general.
